  1. Small Kindnesses

A story of redemption in the real world.

Lyrics

I keep a few illusions handy
For when I really need them most
And all the lies my parents told me
Hang around like desperate ghosts
I'm not waiting 'round for answers
I've given up the search for truth
I'm not as keen on finding meaning any more
As I was back in my youth

But I've found a grace in living
Don't have any sort of plan
Small kindnesses surround me
I'll pay them back when I can

I'm not waiting for the future
But I keep a bag packed just in case
Don't pray for change, but I don't fight it anymore
There are no losers in this race
I feel a sense of expectation
For what it is I do not know
I'll guess I'll know it when I've seen it one of these days
Meantime I'll reap just what I've sown.

But I've found a grace in living
Don't have any sort of plan
Small kindnesses surround me
I'll pay them back when I can
